Coordination of Indiana University's compliance with policies related to non-discrimination, affirmative action, equal opportunity, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, etc.
Student advocacy regarding academics and personal matters that are provided by retired IU faculty and staff volunteers
Gathers, reviews, and handles care reports submitted by students requesting assistance for the submitter of the report and/or others on behalf of which the report is submitted
Offers scheduled time per week to meet with students about their concerns
Responsible for student appeals to grades and requests to withdraw from coursework
Advocates for and offers support to students who have experienced sexual misconduct, rape, sexual harassment, dating violence, or stalking
Grants scholarships and emergency funds to students facing hardship and students employed by the Student Advocates Office
Provides support to students impacted by matters such as sexual assault, harassment, dscrimination, relationship violence, stalking, or other threats to personal safety at IU
Arranges academic accomodations for students with disabilities based on specific need (e.g. extended time for exams, enlarged print tests, permission for recorded lectures, etc.)
Offers accessible transportation on campus for students with demonstrated need
Assists students requesting and/or requiring service animals or emotional support animals
Extends disability services to prospective and incoming IU students
Offers the following support programs to community members with disabilities: Life Long Learning, Residential, Manufacturing, Employment Services (internship, pre-employment transition, full-time work), Family Supports, Milestones Clinical and Health Resources outpatient clinic, Art Studio, Hand in Hand (volunteer opportunities for individuals with disabilities), Spiritual Support
Events, programming, and advocacy related to individuals with disabilities, protective legislation for disabled citizens, etc.
