We're glad you found it and happy you're here. This portal is the result of a 14-week thesis project completed by an undergraduate senior in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering. The goal of the thesis was to bridge the gap between IU students and critical information and resources for navigating pregnancy and parenting while enrolled at the university, as students who find themselves in these situations often experience anxiety, stress, and concerns about what they might do in response to their circumstances. Additionally, the friends, family, professors, and other important people in a pregnant or parenting student's life may not know how to best assist the student depending on a multitude of factors.
In order to address your specific needs as best as possible, this portal contains three different tabs found on the above menu bar: Pregnancy and Parenting on a College Campus, Pregnancy and Parenting Resources, and Know Your Rights as a Student. The first tab provides knowledge on the experience of pregnancy and parenting as a college student in the form of statistics, research findings, etc. for the purpose of generating awareness about being pregnant or a parent as a college student. The second tab will take you to a page containing a large number of local, regional, and national resources for pregnant and parenting IU students organized categorically in sections such as financial assistance, housing, LGBTQ+ Pregnancy and Parenting, etc. Finally, the third tab will give you an understanding of the federal protections in place to protect college students who are pregnant and/or parenting.
Thank you for taking time to explore this portal. We hope it serves your needs whatever they may be and we encourage you to contact the offices/centers listed in the resources section should you have any further questions or concerns.
